Meet the Team
Behind Hope Against Suicide is a passionate, dedicated team of volunteers and professionals, people who care deeply about mental health, suicide prevention, and being a steady presence in moments of distress.
We come from a variety of backgrounds: mental health, social care, education, emergency services, and lived experience. What unites us is a shared belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and supported before it’s too late.
A message from our founder
My name is Clare, and I’m the founder of Hope Against Suicide. The charity was born out of my personal journey, having experienced profound hopelessness after a traumatic event. I spent years feeling lost, with little hope of ever feeling okay again.
It was only through the collective support of others that I was able to heal, and this experience fuelled my passion to help others who are trapped in similar feelings of despair. I understand how dark and endless the tunnel can feel, but I also know that there is a light at the end.
My background in the NHS 111 Service and within a suicide prevention charity has driven me to reach out in ways that were not being covered. It’s a simple concept, but one that is life-changing, and I’m incredibly proud of our whole team here at Hope Against Suicide for the difference we’re making in the lives of others.
A proud moment: Clare and her family celebrate the arrival of our lifesaving Mental Health Responder jackets
