Shaun
Trustee for operations
With 14 years of service in the Royal Navy, including deployments to war and conflict zones, Shaun brings a wealth of experience to our organization. Even during peacetimes, being away from family and friends posed its own challenges. “In those difficult times, I always found solace in putting my empathy and communication skills to work, helping friends and colleagues through some of the lowest points in their lives.”
Shaun’s journey continued as he transitioned into a distinguished career as a police officer, negotiator, and response officer, ultimately retiring as a police inspector. “Working as a negotiator, I realized the profound impact which can be had in giving a bit of my time, and sharing life experiences, especially through conversations with people in crisis or desperate situations.”
As a Trustee of HAS, Shaun joins us not only as someone who has sadly lost friends to suicide but also as an individual who recognises the power of compassion and understanding. Drawing from his shifts walking the city center and engaging with people at their lowest points, Shaun understands the immense difference we can make by taking the time to hear people’s stories and guiding them toward the support they deserve.
Shaun is passionate about the impact of our charity and appreciates our collaborative approach with other organisations to create meaningful change.
